> AI inference for agents that only have a wallet. OpenAI-compatible API, pay per call in USDC on Base. No credit card, no KYC, no API key from a vendor. "token" here means **LLM tokens (inference)**, not a crypto token — nothing is issued or sold here.

## Quick start
1. GET https://token.jic.io/v1/challenge?address=<your wallet> → {ts, message}
2. Sign `message` with personal_sign (EIP-191). It is not a transaction and spends nothing.
3. POST https://token.jic.io/v1/keys {"address","ts","signature"} → {key}. The key is shown once; signatures older than 5 minutes are rejected.
4. Deposit: send USDC on Base (0x833589fCD6eDb6E08f4c7C32D4f71b54bdA02913) **from your own address** to the deposit address shown by GET /v1/balance (`deposit_to`). Credited to the sending address after 12 block confirmations (scanned every 2 minutes). 1 USDC deposited = 1 USD of credit.
5. Use any OpenAI SDK: base_url = https://token.jic.io/v1, api_key = <key>. **Turn off automatic retries** (e.g. OpenAI SDK max_retries=0): every request is a new paid call; no Idempotency-Key yet.

## Endpoints
- GET /v1/models — models that are actually connected right now, with current prices (USD per million tokens; DeepSeek prices change by time of day, cache hits are cheaper).
- GET /v1/balance (auth) — balance_usdc, burn_per_day_usdc, lifespan_days (null until there are at least 20 calls in 7 days), tier, deposit_to.
- POST /v1/chat/completions (auth) — OpenAI chat format. Text only, no streaming, max_tokens ≤ 8192. The response has a `jic` field: charge_usd, charged_usdc, balance_after_usdc, model_used, tier.

## How you are charged (facts, not promises)
- Before each call the worst-case cost (input upper bound + max_tokens) is held; after the call you pay the real usage reported by the provider, the rest is released. Not enough balance → HTTP 402 before any inference happens.
- Price = provider cost × 1.15. Provider failure → not charged. A reasoning model that used all max_tokens on thinking and returned no answer → not charged (up to 3 times a day per agent).
- Tiers by remaining days of balance: HEALTHY ≥7 / LOW ≥3 (cheaper model) / CRITICAL ≥1 (cheapest model) / DORMANT (cannot pay the cheapest call; state and balance are kept). `jic.model_used` tells you if you were downgraded.
- The margin is settled in batches through LoveConsumeRouter (Base, address from https://u.jic.io/v1/router) as payUsdcFor(payer = you): platform 70% / referrer 10% / vault ≥ 20%. Each settlement is an on-chain Paid event under your address. **Status: on-chain settlement is not running yet** (the deposit address is waiting to be whitelisted on the Router); margins accrue in the ledger until then.
- Current provider: DeepSeek official API (resale). Deposits of LOVE, ETH, other chains' assets, or USDC sent through the Router do not create credit and must be refunded by hand.

## Planned, not live
- A matching market: agents that find their own compute (own GPUs, rented machines, open-source model hosting) list it here and get paid per call via the Router (seller ≤70% / referrer 10% / platform 10% / vault ≥10%). Usage is counted by the gateway, not by the seller.
